1/2 cup breadcrumbsπ
1/4 cup milkπ₯
1 eggπ₯
1 small onion, finely choppedπ§
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp olive oil or butter (for cooking)
For the Onion Gravy:
2 tbsp butter
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp thyme (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Combine just until everything is incorporated. Divide and shape into 4 oval patties.
Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through (160Β°F internal temperature). Remove and keep warm.
Reduce the skillet heat to medium, melt butter, and add sliced onions. Cook for 8-10 minutes until golden and caramelized.
Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add flour, stir, and cook another 1-2 minutes.
Gradually whisk in beef broth to avoid lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce and thyme. Simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
Return steaks to the skillet, spoon gravy over, and simmer for 2-3 minutes to meld flavors.
